Grover pulls like crazy on the leash. Walks are miserable

Goldens are strong pullers. Try the "be a tree" method — every time he pulls, stop completely. Only move forward when the leash is loose. He'll figure out that pulling gets him nowhere.

How long does that usually take to work?

Luna keeps scratching the couch. I've tried everything

Siamese cats are big scratchers — they need it to stretch and mark territory. Try putting a tall sisal scratching post right next to the couch. She'll go for the texture.

I have one but she ignores it

Try rubbing a little catnip on it, or play with a wand toy near the post so she starts associating it with fun. You can also try double-sided tape on the couch — most cats hate the sticky feeling.
